The mid-range continues to make sense for Lenovo, which has just extended the X family with the new Moto X4, a smartphone that adopts interesting trends such as its dual camera system, but which also surprises with its IP68 certification, unusual in devices of this type spectrum.
Moto X4 data sheet
The IFA 2017 fair has served to renew other ranges, something that demonstrates the powerful Moto Z2 Force, and to expand the catalog of modules with the new Moto 360 Camera. This Moto X4 however stands out for a good balance between price and performance, with some remarkable elements.
The most relevant is possibly that of its dual camera system, which combines two sensors of 12 and 8 Mpixels (we will see if that second sensor something more limited fulfills its role) to offer “professional quality” images according to Lenovo.
|PROCESSOR||Qualcomm Snapdragon 630|
|DIMENSIONS||148.35 x 73.4 x 7.99 mm (163 g)|
|SCREEN||5.2 inches AMOLED FullHD|
|BATTERY||3.000 mAh / Fast charge|
|MAIN CAMERA||12 (f / 2.0) + 8 (f / 2.2) Mpixels|
|FRONTAL CAMERA||16 Mpixels|
|OS||Android 7.1 Nougat|
|CONNECTIVITY||BT 5.0 / WiFi 802.11ac|
Another of the highlights of these specifications is the presence of Bluetooth 5.0, which allows this time to send audio to up to 4 Bluetooth audio devices simultaneously. If we are connected to a WiFi network, yes, we can only broadcast audio to an audio device at the same time.

Interesting dual camera, but there is a role for selfies
The relevance of the photographic section translates into a series of special features for this dual camera system that makes use of the so-called Landmark Detection, a technology that allows that sensor to adapt to each capture, whether to scan a business card or to make flashy selfies with the so-called Face Filters.
It is almost ironic that the front camera is the one with the highest resolution of the integrated trio in the new Moto X4. The sensor of this camera reaches 16 Mpixels, and also has an adaptive mode for captures in low light that theoretically improves the quality of selfies taken in these conditions.
Not only that: in Lenovo they have added to the trend of other manufacturers and offer panoramic selfies that allow to use a wide-angle mode to capture selfies with much greater amplitude in the field of vision.
A design dominated by glass and water resistant
The design of the Moto X4 maintains the line of its predecessors, although obviously the double camera differentiates this model from those released by Lenovo and Motorola in the past. The design of the back highlights by the use of Gorilla Glass, which is also used to protect the screen, while the edges are anodized aluminum.
The headphone connector and the frames and rounded corners are already traditional in Moto. The 5.2-inch screen with 1080p resolution has not been an obstacle to integrate a battery of remarkable capacity: 3000 mAh that also support fast charging.
The other differential element of this model is the IP68 certification that allows to guarantee the resistance to water and dust to this terminal. As always, this certification is not an invitation to constantly submerge it, but it does give peace of mind if the Moto X4 falls overboard.
Price and availability of Moto X4
Lenovo has not clarified when exactly these new mid-range models will be available, but we do know the price, which will be 399 dollars.
