An aggressive design

Xiaomi Black Shark

Although it shares many of these specifications with the Mi Mix 2S, the truth is that the design is clearly different and adopts a more “classic” format on the front, with two almost symmetrical frames on the top and bottom despite maintaining the 18:9 format.

In this lower frame we find the start button with fingerprint reader of many Xiaomi Mi devices like the Mi 6, and surrounding the outline we find some green lines that give a first ‘aggressive’ to that design.

This differential aspect is much clearer in the back, where we find a unique cover of metal and polycarbonate that is also by its design and is somewhat thicker in the middle than in the sides.

We understand that this is due to the liquid cooling system that is part of the device and that allows to maintain the components at a good temperature even when we dedicate ourselves to make the most of the terminal in video games.

That rear design is crowned by the two sensors of the camera and the LED flash, but as we say the materials and finishes of that back side clearly show that vocation ‘gamer’ that is crowned with the logo of this device, a “S” backlit at certain times.

Liquid cooling and optional control

The new Xiaomi device has two elements that clearly guide the gaming sector apart from that design. It is a real that we have support for that 120 Hz screen refresh that the Razer Phone does offer and that would have made it one of the crucial points for a smooth gaming experience.

Still, as we said, there are two interesting elements in this bet: the first, the new liquid cooling system that boasts the engineers of Xiaomi and that allows the CPU to cool down to 8 degrees in order to get the CPU to perform at maximum 70 % more time

The second, a curious optional command, the Black Shark Gamepad, which is attached to the terminal (without direct contact anchors in the device) and that makes on one side have a stick to control more easily games of all kinds. This video game controller also has a separate 340 mAh battery and connects to the device via Bluetooth.

Although these options are the most important in the field gamer, in Xiaomi have also wanted to add improvements in the section of sound, with a double HiFi front speaker away from the position of the hands to which is added a system of three microphones to improve the quality of the audio input in chats while we play, for example.

The accessory Black Shark Gamepad in the form of a docking control for games costs 179 yuan and both mobiles and this accessory begin to be sold today in China in two different colors: ‘Sky Gray’ and ‘Polar Night’. At the moment there is no news about its availability in other countries.
